Interior Design Trends to Look Out for in 2021

Are you planning to redesign your home’s interior after spending lockdown looking at the same four walls? We don’t blame you! Switching up your interior design can be fun and exciting, but there’s nothing worse than spending hundreds, if not thousands of pounds on a makeover that will be outdated within a month of its completion.

That’s why we’ve found the hottest trends to come in 2021, so you can enter the new year in style.

Sustainable Living

Green consumerism is rapidly rising. People are now becoming more conscious of their impact on the environment and are opting for sustainable furniture for their homes. Natural materials such as wood, glass, stone and metal are being chosen over plastic. Synthetic fabrics are being replaced by natural ones.

Scandinavian Simplicity

Achieving the incredibly popular Scandinavian style relies on minimalism and goes hand in hand with sustainability. Using light coloured, repurposed, unpainted wood and a muted natural colour scheme keeps your home feeling light and airy.

A great way to keep things looking minimalistic is to get rid of your bulky curtains and opt for neat blinds or shutters to keep lines clean.
Here at Aspiration Blinds, we have a wide range of shutters and blinds to suit any home, whether you want a filter for natural light or a total blackout, we’ve got something for you. Click here to request a free appointment online.

Bringing Nature Indoors

After being cooped up inside our homes for so long over lockdown, many people want to bring nature from the outside in, and no, we don’t mean like Snow White. Soft tropics have been incredibly popular recently, with people choosing tropical leaf prints for their wallpaper, bedding and accessories.

Using plants as decorations offer a natural beauty whilst also providing oxygen and filtering out harmful chemicals in the air from your home.
Large pot plants can be a fantastic statement piece in your home!
Alternatively, English Ivy that cascades down a shelf or hanging basket can soften the room and requires very little maintenance.

Bold is Beautiful

If simplicity isn’t really your thing then you’ll love the new bold trends coming in 2021. Eye-catching patterns and textured wallpapers are here to replace plain painted walls. Dramatic florals in rich and luxurious colour combinations will be taking the forefront next year. The key theme here is luxury, with marble, precious woods and fabrics such as velvet becoming increasingly popular. Sapphire, emerald  and silver and gold will be the colours leading the way in 2021, with grey remaining popular as ever.

We love these bold wallpapers from I Love Wallpaper. Check out this Romantic Flower Wallpaper or this vibrant Blue and Gold Liquid Marble Wallpaper for £22.
