Blackout Blinds For Bay Window

Blackout blinds are a versatile and sleek home shading instrument, and although they can be installed in a variety of rooms, and are often most associated with bedrooms, in this blog we will be analysing why they are a perfect choice for a living room bay window.

What Is A Blackout Blind?

A blackout blind does what it says on the tin, blocks out incoming light to effectively ‘blackout’ the space being occupied.

How Do Blackout Blinds Work?

Blackout blinds consist of an opaque fabric, meaning light is prevented from filtering through the blind due to the extra small spaces specifically designed for the material weave.

All blackout blinds naturally allow a small amount of light leakage around the edge of the shade silhouette due to the design and functionality of a blind. This can however be reduced,  as some blackout blinds are fitted with sealing tracks to close the gap between the blind and the wall.

Bay Window Blackout Blinds

As mentioned above, blackout blinds are often most thought of as specialist blinds for a bedroom or home cinema for obvious reasons, but living rooms and in particular, bay windows provide an ideal instalment location for this variety of shading.

Living room bay windows tend to be some of the largest on the property, traditionally allowing a vast amount of natural light into the room, very beneficial for any home. However, there are times where a homeowner may want to have a greater control over this light, being easily able to regulate or block it out totally depending on their preference.

For example, when settling down in the evening with the family to watch the latest blockbuster, or catching up on your favourite hit show when you have a spare half an hour, it can be extremely off-putting if there is a distracting glare upon the screen. A well deployed blackout blind can prevent such a frustrating occurrence.

Blackout blinds also offer supreme privacy, allowing you to relax in the comfort of your living room without worries of a passer-by looking in.

A lesser known benefit of installing blackout blinds in your living room bay windows, is the fact they can be energy efficient!

These types of shading can keep the heat within a room during the winter months, and alternatively block out the sun keeping the room cooler in the warmer summer period.

In these volatile times of soaring home energy bills, blackout blinds can offer a smart alternative method of temperature control.

Blackout Blinds Don’t Have To Be Boring

You may think all blackout blinds must be a neutral dark shade or black fabric to be effective in their functionality of completely expelling light. In reality blackout blinds offer just as much opportunity for creative interior design expression and style as any other type of home shade.

Our blackout blinds come in a variety of styles from contemporary roller to traditional roman blinds, and can come in a spectrum of contrasting colours from opulent purple to sophisticated grey, we have a fusion that can suit and enhance any space while providing a unique aesthetic.
